Bought an antique or maybe vintage 896 rake. It's worn out, but she'll still rake what I need. I did notice that the left side wouldn't drive at all. Investigation shows no pawl, spring or rivet in the drive plate assembly. Ma Deere told me she wanted 85 bucks plus to give me that pawl. I told her pound sand, kick rocks, not happening.
I happened to have a stick of 3/4 by 1 1/2" cast iron bar laying around so this is what fell off the mill today. Works as far as testing on the shop floor is concerned. I expect it to live as long as the real one I copied.
