The 20 year old who farms my place screwed up. Just graduated and moved back home. He got into the bin to see why the sweep auger wasn’t working. It was against the stop inside the bin and the release is on the outside of the bin. He just kicked the sweep over the stop, then it ran over his foot and up his shin. His dad showed me the pictures of the inside of his foot and shin and where the auger ground on the bone. He is home and waiting to see how it heals, maybe surgery later. His dad was mad because there’s no reason to be in that bin with the power on, and by himself. That’s the quote from his dad. Then more about the talk and training last fall about that new bin. Be careful those helicopter rides are extremely expensive.

Wow.
Sadly, it is very easy to convince yourself that you are being careful and will be OK. I have caught myself reaching toward operating machinery.....usually stop and turn everything off before bad things happen. Age 77 so don't have to be young to do dumb things.

Hope he recovers.
