Looking a gift B in the mouth

Good evening,
The only Allis I ever had was an old HD-5. My neighbor wants to give me an old B with a side sickle on it. He says it was his father's and "ran when parked". Says a friend tried and failed to get it running. I can see he left the spark plugs out, s engine is probably sealed, no gas cap and hydraulic lines just hanging, not connected.

Comments, possibly fixable or yard art?

Anything is fixable it all matters with how much time and money you have or want to spend. Even if it is stuck a B engine is pretty easy to free up. Parts are easy to come by. Hydraulic lines are easy enough to figure out or replace. I personally would try to fix it if not a true/obvious basket case or money pit. At the very least I would keep is as yard art simply because I have other running Bs but I have seen very few belly sickle mowers. As a free tractor you can afford to tinker a little on it because you can always sell or scrap it for a few hundred dollars.

It sounds like it isn't "stuck", and if turns over and no stuck valves it should probably run. Check points, drain gas tank and carb, new gas, with spark check, maybe a shot of ether to help it, it seems like it would run. Certainly for the price you can't lose.

If you have the time by all means dig into it. Do the research, you learn details that will help in many other things. Key Word (Details)
I spent many hours taking pictures of the little Allis Chalmers B, C and CA's that I shared years ago here. At 88 and in a wheelchair I am not much help now. Sadly I did not put info with the picture only in the post with the posted pictures. Your welcone to look thru the photos at this link if you like.
