My friend had a 44 give to him if he hauls it off. Owner said one brake is stuck. What kind of brakes on this tractor and how to remove them so we can load it? Lynn

I’m no expert but by the parts diagram it shows that a non-live PTO model has drum type brakes more like old school automotive type. A live PTO model would have an expanding disc type like a Farmall if you ever been around those. The link takes you to the diagram of the 1st type, use the arrow right in the webpage to view the disc type. AGCO MH 44 brake diagrams

They have band brakes much like a w6 . Loosen the linkage and see if that helps should not have to remove the bands. Unless it’s been sitting under water. Jerk the tractor backwards then forward. I have never run into a Massey with siezed up brakes. Most are sll oil soaked from the seal leaking. And if it was in the cold the bull gears can be stuck from frozen water in the diff.

Thank you all. Lynn
Got the Massey 44 home. rustred we had the one that didn't leak gear oil. Removed plug on the adjuster and it was froze up. The arm one the brake cross shaft came off pretty easy. Then removed bolts and pried plate and all out. Rolled then and got it loaded. Sat in barn for 25 years and not stuck. Fella that has it now wants to see if we can get in running. Sure is a rusty thing. Eastern Oklahoma has a lot of humidity so things rust pretty bad. Thanks again for everyone's help. Lynn
