6 foot Brillion seeder

Just picked up an old 6 foot Brillion seeder. Was told single box was used to seed hay fields. I know these were used for planting small seeds such as clovers, etc. but can they be set up to plant sorghum?

Thanks for any information.

Call one of the two guys at the top of the list in this link. Landoll, Brillion Sales/support Landoll bought out Brillion in 2010. I see the rate charts for some of their newer models include sorghum. I would suggest you find a model number before you call and be ready to provide an email or text number to receive the literature.
Landoll is in Marysville, KS a town of about 4000. While it is not my hometown, it is where I went to high school.
If you open the link and click the “Landoll” logo you can see all the things they build. They employ between 8-900 people. The founder Don Landoll, who is in his 90s and still involved in day to day operations is a self-made multimillionaire, but will still set down beside you at a local restaurant or other community function and talk with you like you’re his neighbor.
Edit to add: btw, JCS welcome to YT!

Post a picture of the inside of the box. The old sure stands would plant sorghum. If you have a broom box probably not. Landoll didn't do the Brillion seeder justice when they bought them out. JMOA.

Thanks for the quick response. Upon looking closely at the seeder box it says "Sure-Stand". Serial No. V-8112 if that helps. Would like to plant sorghum now and later maybe some brassica. Just want to know if this equipment is capable of doing both and at what setting (has a setting lever that goes from 1-8).

The seed has to go between the cog and the cup. I don't think you got the clearance. If you had the shutter box and agitator maybe.

I have 0 experience with planting sorghum, but have used a brillion seeder to plant hayfields for several years. It looks like you have a single box for planting fine seed only, plus I have heard sorghum should be planted an inch or so deep. Brillion just barely covers the seed. You would probably be better to find a seed drill.

Thanks for the information. I'm assuming it would it still be good for planting clovers, beets, radishes and brassicas?
