Swap a 504 from an MM705 into a white 1870 / G955?

Have a fleet of White 1870's. A couple of them need engine work. I'm told that pistons are no longer available, and that the best fix is to bore the blocks out to 504, since parts are still available for them.

Found a good running M705. Would it be a direct swap? It also needs a rear seal, any chance of upgrading the rope seal to the new style off the 451?

I don’t know a whole lot about a whole lot but I think the 705 is a pretty rare tractor.
I would check into that before I used the engine for the 1870.
I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong. As far as the actual swap,🤷‍♂️

Don't believe many parts would work besides a complete swap. Thousands of g705's 400 some 1870's. Injection different and crank.

So if the crank is different, does the same flywheel still fit?
I assume that means it would be impossible to retrofit the new style rear seal?

Would the cylinder blocks and heads from the 504 bolt onto the 451 crankcase?

Seal won't go over flange. Might bolt on but think piston are aluminum and not flat top. Would never run right.. Later 451 is a one of its own. Think rods and pistons different as well as heads. May as well change whole motor, flywheel and front pulley.

Thanks for the info.

Agco parts book does indicate that the connecting rods, bushing and wrist pins are a different part number. Rod and bushing appear to be wider than the G705.

So If I wanted to turn this into a 504, the simplest option is boring out these blocks?
And buying new pistons, from what model?

The heads are compatible?

I did find this on this forum:

.... The heads, rods, etc should be interchangeable for most MM diesels. For a 504 engine, the pistons are (4.625"), and could come from a 5 star diesel, M5, M602, M670, G705, G1000, or G1050. The G900, G950, and G955 used a 4.375" piston for 451 cubic inch engine. All the above tractors had a 5 inch crankshaft. Most 6 cylinder camshafts should work in yur tractor. ......

5 digit heads. rather than 4222's. Believe injectors different and square port heads. Send me a message and can maybe set up with parts needed.
