1963 Mercury Monterey

Remember the "backwards" sliding down rear window. Was that crank or electric? Was it just one year?
They had that slant window on the Lincolns back in 60 or so. Uncle had the 63 Merc. Believe it was electric. Great ventilation but seems sort of not needed on cars that were mostly airconditioned. Of course everybody smoked back then. It could help vent the smoke.

If you had an oxygen mask for yourself you could gas your mother-in-law by opening only the back window??? The good 'ol days !🤣

I ask my friend and former teacher, a Franciscan nun, "What must have us kids smelled like when they came to class since almost all of them had parents that smoked in the house and in the car. She said she doesn't remember noticing it. THe smell must have been so pervasive that she couldn't recognize it.

It was electric. My grandfather's last car. 390. Not sure of the tranny. He put a trailer hitch on it and used it to haul the boat and the wood trailer as well as for long-distance family trips. Ran like a champ for at least 20 years. Dad finally sold it when the floorboard rotted out. I wish he hadn't.
