Progress on the 71 Ford 3000 diesel

Hardest part is deciding where to stop the disassembly. Its addictive after awhile seeing the parts all cleaned and painted. No frame off for her just wire wheel rust, primer and a few cans of ford blue.

Nice!
Those are just the best small tractors.
Very nimble, powerful for their size, lots of features and great longevity.
Good on you for keeping that one up to snuff for another generation or two.

I find the process therapeutic. I just turned 57 and celebrated first grandbaby. I wont make it to 102 but my dream is that my grandkids will be tinkering with the 3000 when she turns 100..

Big improvement! I did a 960 except for the sheet metal pretty much the same way, around twenty years ago. Finally after being retired, three years ago I got to taking it apart a lot more, and doing a full prep, prime, and paint.

More updates.

New shift rail balls and springs and Installed the shifter cover. Wire wheeled inside and outside of the nose. Treated the entire thing with Ospho. Primer and rattle can the inside. Outside I’ll sand a bit and use the roll on paint. Made all new fuel lines. Fabricobbled a plate for the disconnect. Power cables and battery tray are next.

New seat, battery disconnect, primered underside of dash. Laying out the new wire harness. Anyone know where to source these wide female spade connectors? I believe it’s 9.5Need one for the thermostart extension to the new harness. I salvaged this one and deoxed it.

It will discolor some around the exhaust ports but the rest will hold up as well as what's on the block
A little discoloration will look better than a rusty head in the future
