MF275 live PTO cannot be shifted on

I think to slip the PTO clutch as miangus suggested you would need help. I envision the tractor running the chipper with the clutch pedal held fully down while the chipper was fed wood enough to really load the tractor engine down. The chipper just running at speed is not much load.
OK, I'll get some help and try this. However, I'm afraid that the design of the chipper may negate the usefulness of this test. To get the chipper drum to rotate at 1500 rpm or so, while its input shaft from the PTO rotates at only 540 rpm, requires some type of gearing. That gearing is implemented via pulleys connected via a wide, multichannel "V-belt" which can slip under load. I periodically have to use belt dressing to reduce the slippage. But I will certainly try this test.
