Cartridge Style Oil Filter retaining spring and washer source

The spring and washer required for the cartridge style filter setup on many Ford tractors is now listed as obsolete and unavailable. It is getting harder and harder to find them. Occasionally you can score one, but it's not easy. After much research and searching online I think I have found a close readily available replacement. Honda used a similar setup on their CB model motorcycles from the 60's into the 70's. The spring part number is 15415-300-000 and the washer is part number 15414-300-000. These parts are easy to find. The antique Ford truck guys are in the same boat with this. That is how I ended up researching other alternatives. I'm running a NOS Ford spring in my truck that I was very fortunate to find, but these Honda parts are easy to find and should work. If anyone goes this route, I would be interested to hear how they fit your tractor.

Lot of owners say just buy the kit and change the tractor over to a spin on filter, but in the instance of wanting to keep the tractor original and stock, I prefer to keep mine the way Ford built it.

The first N I rebuilt the engine on I was in a jam every washer I installed leaked. WTF!!! *%^& I know for a fact the toughest thing know to man is a plastic 5gal bucket so I made a washer using a 5gal bucket. That washer stayed on it for a long time. After the engine warmed up the oil pressure gauge stayed pegged I put a master gauge on it pressures were in the 80 to 90PSI range. I removed the new aftermarket oil pressure relief spring and put the old spring back in. My pressure returned to normal : ).
