Case 8545 baler with 8511 thrower

When I changed this hydraulic filter on the baler, about two gallons of fluid poured out. Im wondering if this filter housing is installed backwards. I assume the flow would go toward the reservoir. Flow control has always been impossible to adjust unless I idle everything down to an idle even with new cable. Thanks in advance.

I agree. The arrow is pointing away from the reservoir and that is a return filter.
