Case 530ck torque tube leak

Hey everyone first post here, also first tractor. I have a 1966 Case 530CK that I recently purchased. It has the 188 diesel, case o matic I believe, and dual range? I wish I knew more to fully understand what I have. I bought it running and dang near everything working on it. Fixed a few things to get to where im at now.

Anywho, I have an issue I was hoping to get some insight on before I go splitting this thing to go digging to figure out where the leak is. I have Hydro fluid leaking from the torque tube into the crankcase. It took me about 2 drains of engine oil to realize that it was filling up. At first I assumed it was diesel but it didnt smell. Then I noticed one day I was having a hard time getting out of a small rut. I checked the fluid of the torque tube and realized I was very low. Topped it off and sure enough. The crankcase was filling up again. So I've done this exact thing at least 5 times now where I dump the crankcase, fill with fresh oil and add hydro to the torque tube.

I do have the factory manual for it, so I tried looking to see what seals are inbetween the 2, having a hard time finding anything. Thats when I noticed someone has removed the 188 engine pages out of my manual. So that leads me here. Hopefully someone can give me some insight to what can be leaking here. Is it possibly something external? I usually try to get as much info as possible before tackling a job.

Thanks Bobby.

This is what i was thinking, but I couldn't understand how a seal can block oil from both directions until I saw youre post. I didnt know they were double shaft seals like that. Honestly it only makes sense though. Thanks for the reply. Ill try to verify the seal is the correct one before ordering.

It's most likely that the seal is not made anymore, but rather two seals of the same size will replace it, one facing in, one facing out. The new seals are flimsy and it's easy to distort one versus the old which was one piece and made from left over WWII tank metal. If you buy three, you won't need the third. Suggest calling John Saeli Imp 315-585-9826 for help and possible new insight.

Yeah I've been digging around on the internet trying to source one. Tried mcmaster and what not with no luck. Ill give him a shout at one point. Thanks for the info.
