MF 245 with power adjust rims settings?

I have a 1979 MF 245.it has the 13.6-28 tires.with the spin out rims.right now the tires are adjusted out past a 6 foot blade.at what holes in the rails.should I put the stop blocks.to get a 5 foot.or a 6 foot tire width?

I can't recall, but your owners manual will have that information. I will say, begin now spraying the bolts and blocks with penetrant so they move when you want them to move.

I sprayed them good with wd40.i got the block pins loose already.havnt tryed all the nuts yet.

I would think you could simply measure from where rim is now to where you want it and adjust accordingly. Had spin out rims here on a 7600/5600 ford and 275 MF. They got changed spring and fall according to what we were doing. It was not rocket science.

Tire size affects overall width; the tread width is given center of tire to center of tire. What is your current tread width?

Looking at the operator's manual the rear wheel adjusts in 4" steps. I don't remember but I think that may be 2" per side (2 x 2" = 4") if you move the stop blocks 1 hole each. Move the inner stop block in one hole and adjust that wheel in. Measure tread width again and that will let you figure out how many holes you need to move both side stops in to get the outside width you want.

Do you have the correct Operator's manual now? I am guessing the info on adjusting the rear wheels maybe the same in the Operator's manual for the later serial number MF 245s, you said you had a while back.

Has the 13.6- 28 tires.in my operators manual.just says what to do to adjust them.its now in the third hole from being all the way out.right now tires stick past a 6 foot blade.has two more holes to adjust them in left.

So, remove the outer stops on each wheel and spin them in (do one side then the other). I should clarify when I say "spin them in" the center actually needs to move out the ramps, to move the wheel/tire in (narrower). They can move in until the wedge clamps are in the bend area at the outer end of the adjusting ramps. For the narrowest position you will not have a stop block on the outside of center on the adjusting rail, only inside the wedge clamp.

The pictures below show where the rims are set on my MF245 (with 13.6 -28 tires) are set. The tread width measures 56" and outside of tire to outside of tire is approximately 70" (brand of tires could affect the overall width). The tires will set narrower by removing the outer stop and turning the center to get the wedge clamps back next to the bend at the outer end of the rails. The put the stop blocks in the first hole in from the wedge clamp.

The manual should indicate how much each hole gets you for adjustment. I'd imagine it's something like 2" per hole, 1" per side per hole that is. Since you only have two holes left you'll probably need to go all the way as narrow as possible to begin getting anywhere near your desired width.

Power adjust wheels are meant to be easy to adjust so worst case you can try different settings and see what you get.
