Ferguson 30 will not stay running

Hi everyone. I recently bought a Ferguson 30. After rewiring the entire tractor and rebuilding the starter it turns VERY strong and starts but it won't stay running. I've cleaned the oil bath filter and replaced the carburetor. I can kind of keep it (falsely) running by engaging the starter switch a few times but as soon as I let it try to run on its own it simply shuts off.

Any help will be very welcome.
Thank you all in advance.

Since you rewired it has it ever run as normal.. crank engine release starter and then run? Take a wire and run it from the battery post of the cable that does not go to the chassis. I say it that way it eliminates knowing if you have a positive or negative ground machine. Run it to the coil terminal that does not have the wire from the distributor on it. See if it runs then, if it does the only way to shut it off will be to disconnect the hot wire. Do this report back.

First off, thanks Used Red MN for replying so quickly.
To answer your question, I bought it not running and since I rewired it, Ive never had it running.

Right now...
1. The engine cranks very strongly
2. It releases the starter
3. It'll start for a split second, but when I disengage the gear shift from the starting position it immediately turns off.

I did what you said. I touched the non chassis side battery terminal to the coil as my kid started it. As long as the cable was touching, it ran. It only turned off when I disconnected it just as you said.

Now you’ll have to get out the test light you acquired in your May 5 thread and find out where your “rewiring” job went rouge. Being it is a 6 volt system and rewired to that spec you should have constant 6 volt battery power to one side of your ignition switch. And with the ignition switch in the on position the second terminal should have power. To the terminal that has switched on/off power there should be a wire ran to feed the coil at the same terminal you ran the jumper wire to. What do you find when you investigate such?

Sounds to me like you are taking coil power from the starter side of the exposed start switch (solenoid). Back side is hot all the time, while the front is hot only when shift lever is in start position.
