OK I think I screwed up my carb settings to the point where she wont start or stay running...starts up but cant sustain so dies. Is there a starting or stock settings to start from in tuning the carb. LIke .... screw all the way in and back off 2 1/2 turns to start... adjust from there.

WHen The new carb came a couple years ago it was at a setting that she started right up and I adj from there....but recently I did some adjusting as I thought I had a gas flow issue but I dont think I do but now I got it screwed up to where it wont stay running? I am NOT good at Carbs and I know it so I usually stay away from them. I was once told from a m/c mechanic that 99% of problems are the carburator...the other 1% is the carburator...

Thanks for any advise to get to a starting point maybe where I can go from there or get her going?? Got projects this spring I need to do.........

TIA

#1 is the main jet adjustment and #2 idle. Set the idle at 1.5 turns out from bottom and from there it is a pretty much set it and leave it. #1 set at about 2.5 out from bottom and adjust from there for good power and no black smoke

The third idle adjustment is a stop screw you adjust to position the throttle linkage to get the idle speed set after you get the two fuel air mixtures right. You might have to tweak it up or down as you make the air fuel adjustments to keep the engine running.
