What would prevent the loosened crud on the dirty side of the filter from floating around to the clean side of the filter?prevenhe filtered particles would m
Yes it is sump for Transmission, tractor is MF6290 power shift. shows code for plugged filter, would take it to dealer closest is 140milesWe need to know the tractor make and model. If the transmission is also the sump for the hydraulics, then I would be skeptical of just cleaning it. Read the owner's and tech manual about this.

Filter from Agco dealer 124.00, Amazon 95.00 . filter is stainless steel mesh 15micron no paper. This is a little reminiscent of the old toilet paper oil filter cartridges. They seemed economical until toilet paper was rationed, and until particulate counters become commonplace.
The Amazon filter might be fine, it might even be made by the place that makes the filer for AGCO/MF, I can't say one way or the other. If you give the part numbers of the filters, people might be able to find and compare the filter you have/need.Filters are propitiatory over 110.00 from AGCO dealer, Amazon 95.00
This YT website sells some parts for MF 6290.Yes it is sump for Transmission, tractor is MF6290 power shift. shows code for plugged filter, would take it to dealer closest is 140miles
He posted 15 microns. Is this the filter we're talking about 3712404M1? It was the only one I could find that indicated 150 micron...
I hope he posted wrong. 15 microns is very tight and would require a pump with great suction. 150 microns seem to be more realistic. He posted 15 microns.
He posted 15 microns.
It would be easier to help in some of these matters if people would post the part numbers of what they are looking for. With the part number we could confirm the microns, etc. There may be options if we know what they are looking at so we know we are looking at the same thing. He did. For some reason I've been thinking 150 this entire time. Wishful thinking I'm hoping? In the parts book Massey lists the 3712404M1 filter as the wet clutch with power shifter strainer, but the part itself is listed as a hydraulic oil filter cartridge. I don't know where I got 150 microns but the Donaldson cross lists that filter as being a 260??? micron filter, so not the same?
The other filter is 3792287M1, another hydraulic oil filter cartridge, which is 60 micron according to a carquest cross reference:

And Bill hasn't returned to answer any of the questions asked after his last post made Wednesday.
