I just completed an in-frame overhaul with sleeves bearings and rings on my Waukesha 310. On my initial startup it's smoking white smoke consistently. There's zero blow by and I am thinking it is a fueling issue the smoke is really fumy not like water vapor. I didn't remove the fuel pump so I don't think my timing could be off is anybody have any suggestions. I might initial drive it quit on me and sounded like it was running out of fuel I'm planning on changing fuel filters. I did take the elbow on the Russo injection pump off and check the screen. There was no debris on it but a spring did fall out and it looks like they're supposed to be a check ball in there but I did not see one. It's a Russo DBG series injector pump. Does anyone have any suggestions.

does sound like water, could be the coolant and you said it seems to run out of fuel. Maybe the fuel is being diluted with coolant. I'm thinking coolant leak, but I'd change fuel first.

What did you figure out?

I don't have much experience with diesels but white smoke can indicate a misfire. You should be able to smell the unburned fuel.
gray wld be unburnt fuel, white wld b coolant, but i'm sure some do describe gray as white. diesels don't seem to run for long if you see a lot of white exhaust! haha.

shld be able to hear a miss, but an injector could b stuck open, or opening at slightly wrong time.
