MF 165 oil gauge

I bought a new oil gauge to replace the broken gauge. The part that was sent to me is a male fitting and the line that attaches to the gauge has a male fitting. I bought a connector to get them to connect but oil leaks still. Is there an easy fix for this?

Welcome to the forums.

Sounds like the connector you bought does not have the correct threads on at least one side of it. I can’t tell you what you need for certain without seeing everything. The gauge looks like it has a male 1/8” NPT nipple in the back. No idea on the tubing end fitting.

Without hands on the parts, I think you need a 1/8" Female NPT to fit on the gauge with a female 1/4" inverted flare adapter to accept the tubing.

Flare fittings will only seal against another flare - you won't seal with a barrel fitting. Make up a short pipe with a female flare and nut on each end (we use brake pipe). They used to have a short pipe fitted from the gauge to the back of the dash to ease assembly on the track. If you haven't got the kit any car garage should be able to make you one.

The is the tubing. It’s a male end also. I bought a double female connector but it is still leaking
Didn't your old gauge have the adapter on it? The MF 165 parts book shows it as part number 356635X1 connector, if you want to check to see if your dealer has one.

What size is the tubing, 1/4" or 5/16"

Closer examination of your pictures it appears that you purchased a straight pipe coupling. It may be the right size pipe thread for the gauge port, but it does not have a seat on one side for the inverted flare of the tubing. What size wrench fits the hex of the nut on the tubing?

Below is a picture from a Weatherhead catalog of the type of adapter connector you need.

Edited to add the picture

I am going to say what you call a barrel fitting is what we call a straight pipe coupling. He needs female pipe thread on the gauge side and the correct size female inverted flare thread on the other side of the adapter, as shown in the MF 165 parts book.
