What is the largest/highest hp tractor you’ve put in front of a sickle haybine?

Just curious!

I’m thinking about putting my IH 886 in front of my 7ft sickle Hesston 1110 haybine to cut a little hay - just to exercise both and for throwback kicks…

Before I got my discbine and the 2-105 White tractor, I ran my Hesston 9 foot 1120 with my 90 horse Oliver 1850 all the time, but one particularly hot summer, I ran it a few times with my 135 horse White 2-135 just because it has a cab with air. It was overkill for sure, but it as comfortable.

White 2-135 doesn't know the discbine is behind it. Need it for the 1000 pto.
My discbine is 540. I generally run it with the 2-105. It just feels more nimble and is easier on fuel. The 135 is a Series 3 and has a quieter cab though.

7040 AC turned up175hp 9ft nh haybine only ac cab tractor we had at that time, now I pull one with a 2040 jd 45hp doesn't know its there

A guy not far from me uses a case 2670 for everything. He had a 930 he used for haying but it quit on him, so now everything gets done with the 2670. 9ft haybine, new Holland side delivery rake, 24T baler, round baler and even 6 row corn planter that I've seen. Been doing it for a while now.

1411 haybine behind my 4840. The 4250 was still putting on 28 and need to cut.

You should easily run that 7 ft hay one with a 45-50 pto hp tractor, any thing bigger than that is just more ground compaction and wasteful fuel
Just my opinion, pull it with whatever you want

Haven't done it yet. But looks like in a couple weeks at our Southern farm I'll be running the IH 990 haybine behind an Allis 7045. Not ideal, just happens to be what works out with what tractors are available or scattered around and tied up with other jobs. The 7045's were lighter than many 145 HP tractors of the time, and the tires aren't loaded, so that should help a little with compaction. But not really ideal - especially with the price of diesel today.

BTDT. Not something I wanted to on the regular, but the big tractor was the reliable one. When one of the smaller tractors crapped out you made due with what you had to get the job done.

Must be down to his last tractor. Running such a big tractor on hay equipment gets expensive over time. Hopefully, the AC works if on the tractor.
