Hydraulic Whine In Int 544 Utility

I purchased a 544 utility and have plans to brushog with it. It seems to whine quite a bit while just running around and testing things, is this normal? My intent is to change fluids and filters, they say there are 3 options on hyd filters, how do i know what i need before i tear into this machine? It appears the filter is behind a plate on the right side of the trans housing when sitting in the seat, i assume i need to drain everything before i take the plate off, or is it just a compartment with a screw on type filter. Will a new filter and hyd fluid help with the noise? Everything works fine, so it doesnt seem to be starving for fluid.
Thanks for any advice on this matter.

On my Farmall 656 you can remove the cover to replace the filter and just lose a small amount of fluid. My 656 wines more than I would like when cold, the colder weather the louder the wine.

Yea they whine about like the War Dept . She is a real angle -------- ALWAYS UP IN THE AIR HARPING ABOUT SOMETHING .

I assume you mean “angel”… an angle is for geometry.

Yes, the filter is behind the plate 13 in this link. CNHI IH 544 parts diagram
Here is a link to the common filter for these tractors, which usually have the 12 GPM pump. There is a higher GPM pump option, post your serial number plate information and we should be able to confirm what you have.
12 GPM filter from YT
(FYI: That link to the CNHI parts catalog will allow you to view all parts sections for your tractor. In the case you are viewing it on a phone clicking “Table of Contents” will take you to the main index.
