IH 484 3 Pt Lift

I've noticed some odd things about the 3 pt on my 484.

I believe I understand it all correctly but want to make sure.

The 3 point works and will lift ok, I have not had any issues picking up a 6 ft bush hog, 6 ft tiller, or a round bale of hay.

I am not plowing (tilling some), so I would assume I want to lock out the draft control which the operator's manual says is all the way forward.

When I am in that position the lift works, but will not go as high as it can, stops a few inches short. If I move draft to light the 3 point will lift higher, but it will not go down without moving the draft lever back down.

Also, my position control will not stay all the way up with the draft lever all the way forward, it wants to drift down some. I can physically hold it all the way up, but the lever will creep on its own.

Could this all be as simple as adjusting the levers? Not sure how to access all that with the fenders on.

You are correct on this "I am not plowing (tilling some), so I would assume I want to lock out the draft control which the operator's manual says is all the way forward."
There is a 3PT lift height adjustment that can be preformed through the inspection cover under the seat.

I need to review the service manual, I just remembered my uncle sent me a full printed set that he had.

I have a PDF version, but it isn't the best. I see there are some linkage adjustments as well.

That is how the 3pt operates on that series. The draft control, when pulled back, will cause it to raise higher. But I would not want this to be the full raised height. Raise it with the control lever and that is usually sufficient. Mark.

Read over my manual last night.

My lift does "hiccup" with the draft control all the way forward. Maybe it is not fully locked out?

I don't hear it hitting high pressure like described in the manual.

Might be as simple as cleaning everything off good and adjusting linkages.
