Transporting a 3000 trans and rear end

I bought a rear end/transmission/axles for a 3000. I didn’t want to haul a trailer the distance to get them. The rear axle is too wide to fit between the insides of the bed, so I made a little cribbing to hold the trans off the bed rail. It fits in this way pretty nicely.

All that yellow paint and single disc clutch makes me wonder if its a 3400 trans, r/a. Numbers on rite front of trans will tell.

34022C is a 3400 with a gas engine, live PTO and an 8 speed transmission. So the transmission, where those numbers are stamped, was originally in a 3400. No way to tell if the rear axle was originally in the same tractor or if things had been swapped at some point. Maybe compare date stamps on all of the castings. If they are all within a month or two of each other then they were probably from the same tractor.

Sorry Sean but the number 2 is trans pto, 3 would be live pto

And to complete the picture 6B9C is the date code for February 9 1966 afternoon shift. The serial number is C130677 which fits in with the unit code (date code) and C means assembled in the USA. The 6C8 appended to the serial number probably is an additional date code for March 8 1966 but I've not seen this before, maybe Destroked has the story.

I’ve seen a number of early models with a date code at the end of the serial numbers, most always when this is seen there is no transmission date code on the left side
In this case 6B9C will be the transmission assembly date and 6C8 will be the tractors final assembly date
The latest date code will always be the final assembly date
65/66 are the most common years to see this on and more so on European models. I speculate that the US models we see like this may have transmissions with right side assembly dates shipped in from the UK to keep up with US production demands
