Aha! If you have the lighting only option, you wouldn’t have that big, heavy, armored battery cable going to the starter, but instead you would have a much lighter cable/wire going from the battery to the ammeter (AB1965R) AND it would be supported by two more of those loop clamps attached to the fuel tank supports on the left side, mirroring those for the generator wiring on the right side. And, you wouldn’t have that wire (AA4442R) between the ammeter and starter, either. Otherwise, the wiring and routing would be the same as previously described. Thanks to all for the info. My tractor has lighting equipment only. Some of this info will surley be helpful tho ! Might have to wing it on some of it...
I’ve seen grounding straps attached to about anything you can imagine, including holes that were not factory installed. But this picture from the latest operator’s manual seems to indicate the strap is attached down low between the battery and the front tappet cover. The bottom coolant pipe is the only thing in that area. But who knows – it’s entirely possible that Deere changed the factory assembly scheme over time.I've been waiting for you to chime in on this, Dan. As I recall the battery ground just dropped down the bolt for the fan support bracket. But that would mean the frame to main case and bracket to frame has to carry the ground so must be clean. I'd agree on all the other points. I still have the original harness and the still good armored starter cable but the harness is trash.
Here's a picture of a 4L240W (1/2" x 24") belt and it looked as if it fitted correctly. However, another person told me he had an NOS belt (H938R) and a comparison fit was pretty close to a 4L230W (1/2" x 23"), although he felt a 4L240W would work. Edit - forgot to mention he tried the 4L230W and decided it was a little too short, so he went with the 4L240W.Almost forgot. Do you or anyone know what lenght the gen belt is ? Haven't seen much on line. Maybe even a gates or other brand part # ?
