Three balls and 3 springs, one of each in the holes so they set against each of the detent sections of the shift rails. These Farmall don’t have the fancy detents that require one rail to be in neutral before another can be shifted into gear. Most of the time you can just pull pin 14 and pull the gearshift out. Then you line up all the shifter rail gearshift notches to neutral with a big screwdriver or pry bar and put it back in and go on. If this happens a lot the end of the gearshift may be worn down and needs a bit of weld on it and ground back into shape.Does anybody know the sequence that the 3 shifter bars goes into the 2 holders at each end underneath the shafter plate. A ball got in the wrong place and jammed the shifter, and that was what my problem was on my other post
Hard to tell you without being there, one of your gears is not getting back into neutral. I take it by what you said you had the entire shift cover off are you sure the forks all got placed in the proper grooves on the gears? Should be able to set the gears in neutral with the cover off. Unplug the coil wire and hit the starter see if it spins free, but be careful if it is still in a gear it will still want to move, DON’T LET IT RUN OVER YOUR FOOT.Got the plate situated on in place. Put 2 bolts in to hold it. I had the clutch held down. Started it, and it ran fine, but when I let the clutch out, it would die. Did this 3 times.
Probably obvious but the shifter notches all line up in neutral to make a wide trench. Different model but same idea. Sorry about forgetting that it could be hand crank.one of your gears is not getting back into neutral.
You need to retrace your work. Something (or things) is not in the correct place.I found out that the shifter lever wont move sideways in either direction, but goes from neutral forward and backward just fine
