IH 706 Converting 2 pt fast to 3 pt. Is it worth the cost and work?

Hello all, I have a 706 with 2 pt fast. The mount for the center link has already been added and I use the ball inserts to attach 3pt implements. As you know stabbing the inserts once mounted is painful. I'm researching a quick hitch or thinking about possibly converting to an actual 3 pt. if I could find the parts. What's everyone's opinion on the best way to go?

Just to fill in the curious.... what issues are you having with the 3PT inserts not working &/or making things difficult for you?

Otherwise, it depends on what route you want to go, with adding a 3PT. There's a bunch of grunt work changing it over from FH, but it's pretty straight forward. There are Quick Hitches made with the prongs. They leave me a bit skeptical, about how easy it is to attach 3PT equipment to it with little fuss. Also don't like that the top link mount is not stationary, have to monkey with PTO length, etc.

Making the switch sometimes can have issues with the pins that go into the draft scening , sometimes then come out with ease then there are the ones that fight you for DAYS . Every Farmall i have owned has had fast hitch , myself i love the fast hitch . Nobody else does and they complain about it all the time . I use the fast hitch to three point conversions and yes they can be a pain to get hooked up to the plow or the bake wrapper . The rest of the time it is mostly used as a draw bar tractor and when something heavy sinks into the mud or the draw bar pin beaks and the tong is on the dirt that fast hitch with the hitch draw bar is mighty handy two years ago we changed out my one friend 806 to three point . i got him a deal on everything we needed and his came apart like it just left the factory the day before BUT John takes care of his equipment . His 806 was bought off the org owner who was just as fussy on maintenance as Ronny bought it in 1964 when he came out of high school and john bought it in 74 when he came out of high school and the tractor moved three miles east to it's new home Still in Org paint and decals , washed and waxed after each use , you could run that tractor in a white TUX and only get dusty . . They are easy to swap , pull the two pins in the load arms on the draft sensing remove the pin on the bottm linkage where the draw bar goes in Hoppen ya do have the draw bar and the proper draw bar support around the PTO as Some did and SOME DID NOT and that makes ya BUY one and the draw bar and there are two styles of draw bars used on the 06's

I've used this setup for years. If you want to use it on a bush hog or cultivator, it works fine; if you want to moldboard plow, it might not be heavy enough.

One thing nice about that style (Mark-EC) is that you can leave it on the implement and have a fast hitch implement.

Really cool history. I do have the draw bar that attaches to the rear end. I don't have the 2 pt fast draw bar. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Mike, No issues that I know of. Just the challenges with 2 pt fast.

Hi Mark, I saw that photo in my search. I may go that way.
That factory ARCH style was NOT meant for tractors much over the 350 and much more then a five or six foot brush hog weight wise is pushing it's limits . While i had the shop open when i had Free time i use to make adjustable fast hitch to three point adapters that were temper tested ya could pull a five bottom plow with you could use Cat 1 to Cat two and three . I plowed many acres with the ones i built and today that same set is handling the round bale wrapper and that thing is and INGOT by it's self with out a silage bale added as even with a 1000Lbs on the nose of the 806 the ft gets real light with a silage bale on the wrapper to where ya back up a slight grade to keep the ft. on the ground . they ain't broke yet.
