John Deere Roosa Master CBC431--7Al

Hello. I have a 1970 John Deere A500 backhoe. It ran out of fuel and I've been trying to bleed the fuel system out. Unfortunately I followed Ais suggestions to take the top screw out of the injector pump because it said it was a bleed screw. Now Ai is saying I messed up by removing the screw and that it holds the guide sleeve in place and then because I turned it over trying to bleed it it is inside the pump and the pump needs removed to relocate the pin. Can someone shed a little light on this for me? I loosened the 3/8 nut and unscrewed the screw out by my fingers. There was no resistance and I screwed it back in by my fingers. Do I need to take the pump off and have the sleeve put into the proper position? I bled through the fuel filters then took the return line off the injector pump and had fuel there but barely anything at the injector fitting at the top. Appreciate any help. Thanks

My 500b had a stuck metering valve that caused the issue you describe

Fuel pump shop rebuilt it since it hasn’t been apart in my lifetime improved the starting tremendously.

I thought there was a lock wire on that nut you describe?

I took out the small Allen head screw in the top of the safety wired nut. I did not remove the nut with safety wire. Am I alright since I didn't remove the nut? I'm wondering if I could squirt a little diesel fuel into the hole at the top where that Allen screw is and free up the metering valve.

I got it running!!! I thought I screwed it up when I took the screw out, but it's running good. I'm going to write 100 times. I Will Check the Fuel before every start! Thanks
