You guys stay safe and hydrated out there. This heat is no joke. Temps here in NC are in the 100's..and the humidity...ughh!
I took down some pallet racks yesterday and loaded them on my trailer. When it hit 90-95, I was in the shade, in front of a fan and then on my way home to the air conditioning.
This morning I've been working on a finicky pressure washer to clean 60 years of dust, cob webs crud off the metal. I don't think I'll be at it much longer.

I had a heat stroke. Must have been 30 yrs ago. I'm 73 now. I am smarter now than I was then. The work is just going to have to wait until tomorrow. It will still be there. The world will not end if I don't get it all done today.

Yep, your body never recovers from a heat stroke, heat exhaustion yes. I spent 3 days in the Ft. Benning hospital in the 80's, to this day my body does not sweat normally on high-heat days, and I tire much quicker. I've spent all week indoors, with the exception of a trip to the grocery store and pharmacy. I've also developed chronic Kidney disease, now stage 3b.
My yard needs mowing, but if it grows too much for my ZTR to cut I'll climb on the tractor and rotary mower when it cools down outside.

This is a generalzation but I have seen it my whole life, and today working in "black flag" conditions at the shipyard. People in general do not drink enough water, sodas, energy drinks and beer do not hydrate you, they do just the opposite. Every required break we have taken today the majority of people grabbed sodas and energy drinks from their coolers

While i was in the service in Nam after getting use to the heat we did not drink that much till we could settle in . last thing ya wanted tip toeing in Charle's and NVA's back yard was a half full canteen . we worked shell we say over the line far away for any back up . And depending how long we were out determined if we got a resupply drop that ya hopped you could get before someone else showed up . Finding somewhat clean water to refill with was anything the was not to cruddy then drop in two tables and shake and wait then ya got to enjoy the after taste . Now when out i usually have a gallon insulted jug and during a hot day we will go thru most of it . I have only had one cabbed tractor for a short time everything else is open station but did put a umbrella on my 806 and it made a huge difference when mowing and raking hay . During my years trucking local the worst of it was hauling COKE between mills where you loaded 25 feet from the coke ovens and unloaded the same . While on this haul there was a Dress code , insulated under ware, long sleeve WOOL shirts 8 inch work boots and for a while we had to ware flame retardant pants and in a semi that had no A/C . when they pushed and oven the burning red hot coke would blister the paint on the trailer side boards and a couple times when the quench car stopped moving and you were still loading or unloading and now only being maybe 12 feet away the heat buckled the side on the dump trailer , that never happened to me but two other guys . now let me tell ya it was HOT during the summer and we put in 14-16 hours a day seven days a week. . Ya darn near needed a water tanker to carry your water as that gallon you brought to work was gone by noon and a refill in the foremans office after lunch on the run as you had not time to stop just long enough to take a pee get your bills and go . 8 semi's and 56 loads on a normal day and if one blast furnace went down the loads went up and more trucks came on and it became a bigger mad house running 24 seven .
