John Deere Pedestal Screws

I am restoring a 1941 John deere H and notice that there are three screws running down the right side of the pedestal---what are these for? I can't find them in the parts books.
Thanks Otis

Those holes are for your H497R Center Plate.

Thanks for your reply---I looked at that page in the parts book and I don't know how I missed it because it is so obvious to me now!!
Thanks again Otis

Whats the purpose of the center plate?
Don’t know for certain. But Deere must have decided they were necessary as those center plates were furnished on all the styled row-crop tractors (A, B, G & H). Perhaps Deere thought those plates helped direct air flow through the radiator. Because the front pedestals of the styled tractors blocked a significant portion of the front grill, thus requiring a greater proportion of air flowing in from the sides, it may have resulted in air turbulence caused by air paths colliding with each other which may have reduced the total air flow through the radiator despite the fan and the center plate may have prevented that possible problem – but that’s obviously just a wild guess.
