Back in the good old days, I flew a lot at night. The company had two airplanes that could be tuned to CB frequencies. It was a night's entertainment to talk to cross country truckers. Then the Feds found out what was going on and made the company block those frequencies. Real buzz kill. BobTx

Listening to the CB at 2-3:00 AM while driving truck was always most entertaining. You wouldn't fall asleep, that's for sure.

In these newer pick up trucks, there is no good place to put a CB radio. Would like to put one in my 2022 3500 Ram but it has a center console, not to mention, I can't hear worth a hoot.

I have an old Browning Golden Eagle set down cellar. They were the cat's Pajamas's years ago. 👨‍🌾
Back in the 70s when CBs were the rage, a neighbor across the alley from me had one of those Eagles, an amplifier and moonraker he used to harass other CBers. This guy bought a backyard building to house the Eagle and thousands of dollars in related equipment. His passion was bullying and harassing ,aka Channel Boss. He suddenly went silent and moon rakers disappeared. I figured he had been arrested or someone had gave him a beating but a couple months later a fellow asked to shake my hand in appreciation for kicking "Warloc" off the air. I asked him to explain since that was the first I heard of such. What happened was one day while I was transmitting, Warloc went out to his lair for a little fun. My signal was registering higher than he ever witnessed or heard of (how many pounds am I putting on you good buddy). Having already invested in state of art and maximum power to be had,he felt defeated and sold out.
This was long before ROFLMAO came into existence but when I told this fellow what must have happened, his reaction was shining example of the acronym. My set was nothing more than a strapped with black tube White Face (which I still have) and cheap beams. Evidently my signal triggered his linear and what he saw was his linear's output NOT my signal strength being received. Air waves were abuzz after hearing "the rest of the story.

That boys and girls is an example of Too many dollars and not enough sense. Any kid that ever assembled a Heathkit would have known what was happening.

I still have my old Realistic that I purchased in 1975, if memory serves correctly CB's came in to prominence during the national 55 MPH speed limit to avoid "Smokey's" bear traps.
