So new to tractors, 67 ford 3000 with SOS. we got the book service book changed the oil and filters twice. Adjusted the bands and the top forward gears the tractor are great. No reverser, well if it’s on a slope I’d kinda moves. Any ideas on this ?
I tried to contact Bern in Mt Vernon because that’s just down the street. But I need to figure out the next step

Bern is one of our resident experts on those transmissions but I rarely see him here on Tractor Talk.
I suggest you hop over to the Ford board and re ask about it there. There's there's other guys there who know them too.

Try this place. Nevin Horning tractor repair and service. 717-336-2507. Nevin has passed away but I believe that his two sons Sheldon and Jeremy are still running the shop. Great people to work with. They are in Denver PA.

Get a book and go through the simple setting of the 3 band adjustments on the outside of the trans... and this will fix the problem in most cases!!!!

In your manual there should be a trouble shooting chart where you use pressure gauges and note where hydraulic pressure is applied in each gear. This will give you insight into what you are up against.

As a practical matter, if you have the bands adjusted, the next place to inspect is the control valve assembly. It is not uncommon to find a valve(s) stuck. Your manual should be of help. If the bands are adjusted and the control valves working and the symptoms persist then you are in for a rear split and disassembly. It's not particularly difficult, but care must be taken with keeping things in order. Repair parts may be an issue, depending on what you might need. Most parts would need to be sourced from the used/salvage market.

Here's a recent thread you may find interesting, within it is a link to another thread which also is of interest. https://forums.yesterdaystractors.c...on-pressure-test-and-band-adjustment.1794936/

Good luck.
