1030 traction clutch adjustment

I need to adjust the clutch on my 1030, I was wondering if anyone had and could post the actual procedure, it has a whole lot more linkage and springs under by the pedal than my 700 does. I'm just not really sure what all of it does, I do know I need to adjust though, I have a lot of free pedal and can barely get it to release enough to get into gear. Thanks in advance,
Jason

I should also add I have the shorter pedal that has what I believe to be a release assist spring setup, I guess I sorta said that but maybe this clears things up a bit

ok so with a little more reading that extra stuff appears to be the return spring, however that is also not adjust right, the pedal does not return up against the platform I unless i manually hold it up, I would like to set things all back correctly but don't have a manual for it

No experience with that model, it looks like you need to adjust eye bolt 14 to put more tension on the over center spring 16. See diagram, I am guessing you have a later model by the more complex linkage explanation.

That link will allow you to view all the parts diagrams on that tractor. On a PC it is obvious, on a phone clicking “Table of Contents” will open the main Functional Group index.

thank you sir, that was my thought too but not really sure that stuff is put together right on the linkage and the diagram doesn't exactly show where the linkage goes. yes it is a somewhat later one, but not the very late ones, they changed the fuel and oil filters on the real late ones.

If your clutch assembly is not worn out you can adjust the threaded collar on the main linkage to give you about 2 inches of free play. Putting more return spring pressure will not solve the failure to return clutch pedal problem alone. We had the same exact problem and needed a new clutch assembly, along with refacing the flywheel. The clutch pedal returns like a champ now.

I did end up getting it to adjust and all works now, the return spring stuff was correct just the spring tension was way loose. now on to the other issue, somewhere along the line when gramps had the tractor it got about 3/4 of inch added into the pivot arm on the bellhousing and about two inches added into the clutch pedal above the rod, makes the pedal push way easier was the reasoning, anyway the adjuster link between the the pedal and the lever on the bellhousing was not long enough to get the adjustment correct, I added about an inch to the adjuster and got the pedal set correctly, so that I have about an 1 1/2" free pedal from the stop screw, then adjusted the return to where it gets the pedal back to the stop and doesn't cause extra force to push the pedal. Just thought I would update you all, the clutch holds good and now you can shift without grinding gears, unlike before where it would grind just sitting still!
