Milwaukee cordless grease gun.

I just bought a new Milwaukee 2646 battery grease gun. It works great but I can't get the nozzle off after greasing the fitting. Anyone else have this problem? I can't get it off even if I don't put any grease in.

I have the same problem with my Dewalt. I have to tip it and push sometimes. I figure it'll loosen up some year.

Had a battery gun that did same thing. Could not get gun off of the fitting. It was a cheap one and bit the dust early. Bought a lock and lube and fixed problem. Now have a porter cable battery gun.

If your grease zerk isn't letting grease go through or the bearing is tight, pressure will build and lock the nozzle on the zerk. Press and wiggle the nozzle to get it to release. Keep a 7/16" and 3/8" wrench handy so to loosen the zerk to relieve the pressure and maybe replace the zerk.

I have a few cordless grease guns (always have) and I don't recall what brand(s) they are, but none use batteries. Even those will lock on a fitting once pressure is built up and maintains.

Even with no pressure, my Dewalt won't come off unless you tip it and pop it off. The OPs Milwaulkee must have the same end.

I can bend, twist, yank real hard then finally have to pry it off with a screw driver. I tried pushing the purge valve which also didn't help. Very disappointing for $380 grease gun.

Have the same problem with an end from tractor supply. Said 4 jaw, have to use a screwdriver to get it off, even broke a zerk once!

Tip issue not the grease gun, other than the tip they put on it.

As Phill mentioned in post #2. Usually you can hold the hex with a wrench and loosen the barrel with pliers. I have often backed new tips off a bit if they hold as you describe. Finger tight is enough and you can adjust it as needed.

Loc-n-lube is good in most places, but I find it can be a pain to hold the jaws open and get in some tight spots, as well as length can be a problem at times.

One of the battery grease guns at work has a little dump valve to release the pressure plumbed in at the gun end of the hose.

I was in the 1%. Might work perfect on every fitting and then could not get it off. Of course the gun giving trouble was probably made by a 4 year old in the land of almost right. I have several grease guns scattered around the place. I use the lock n lube when greasing the bat wing. Couple fittings are a little awkward to connect to.
