Separate or Filet? Welding Question

Thank you , Eric for the thoughtful reply. I will say that there was hardly a "bump" when the part failed. And now I will reach out to Titan and see what the expected failure forces are for the shear pin just for grins. And from now on I'll use a chain to pull stumps.

Red, thanks for the input! After all this was a welding question...... And all agree that to separate the fitting down to its composite parts is the way to go. I will do that for my Ford "N"s (all three of 'em)
