Ford 9N Brakes

A friend of mine just bought a 1940 9N Ford and wondered if anyone is selling a kit for locking the brake pedals together, when desired.

well they don't sell kits like that for a 9N however red rock manufacturing sells a lever for your left hand brake so you can apply the brake with your hand as you use the clutch with your left foot and pressing the right brake with your right foot.

The way it is supposed to work is when you push the clutch, the first 1/2 down disengages the clutch, and when you push the pedal down the rest of the way the brake is also pushed. When they are adjusted right (& the clutch & brakes are good) it works quite well!

Ahh when you got extremely worn out brick stiff brakes like my 9N does that little pawl gets moved outta the way so it doesn’t engage the brakes. Should add therefore making it easier to push the clutch in

when the clutch only goes so far down due to my brake pedal only moving about a 1/2 inch with a broken adjuster (can’t actually do anything it it just ticks at me) I had no choice. (I hate drum brakes some days.)
