Replacing lift fuel pump on inline injection pump..

What fluid is this?? Smells like oily water, but my family says its yellow. I know there's isn't any yellow coolant in it, so what fluid is this?

I see the cam for the injection pump in there, so it must be oil lubed.. did water get in there? No signs of water in the engine oil.

It's mostly diesel fuel with a little water possibly added in from pressure washing or rain. Check the vent to make sure it's not missing a cap.

The inline pumps have their own oil sump that is separate from the engine, oil should be changed in the pump at the same time the engine oil is changed
Many are no aware of this and run the injection pumps dry, when you remove the lift pump it drains the inj pumps sump, make sure to refill
