Old Lift Cylinder Rod Packing

Thanks, I'll send an rfq.

One of the rods is bent about 1" in the middle. Is it worth straightening and fitting new seals? I can get a new cylinder for $220 with free shipping.

It sounds like a replacement might be a good move, if the packings are the prices you have mentioned. Unless you find a cylinder that is an exact match in all dimensions to the one with a bent rod, you should replace the cylinder it runs with as well.

That's beginning to sound like a good idea. After watching the Pakastanis straighten cylinder rods I might consider trying it as a DIY project. I don't have a big press or heavy steel beam but we'll see. I sent out four RFQ's for the packing sets. If any are not too expensive, I may give it a try. I wonder if a garage floor jack and 6x6's might be set up to do the job.
