The radio in my Farmall 75c. You have to turn the volume knob many rounds to adjust volume. I actually like it because it's hard to adjust the volume a little bit when your bouncing in the cab.

Also that tractor has the best air conditioner in the world. I like that too. Just got the tractor last winter.

Most new vehicle radios are digitally controlled (big surprise). The volume knob on an older radio actually had audio running through the volume knob that is correctly called a "potentiometer". The newer radios just send pulses to a microprocessor that in turn changes the volume. No audio goes through the volume knob anymore.

Your teasing us, with old tractors that had working radios when new, but wear and tear has made them inoperable. I look at mine and think I should put a new one in, then I realize with the door off, all the windows open for some cooling air, there's no way this hard of hearing old man could listen to anything played. Yes I'm toying with getting a new one but rationalizing what I have, does the job, and replacing it would just be for creature comforts. I'm happy for you to enjoy your new tractor, my day imight be sooner than I think. lol

In the newer digital car radios the volume that was last set is what you get when you turn it back on. That can lead to some surprises if you had a teen that last drove it and cranked the volume. You can't even turn it down before you start it as turning the knob doesn't do anything until it's powered.

Not in my Ranger, comes on to a factory pre-set which has to turned up as soon as you get moving !!

You might consider one of these 3M headsets radios rather than buy a tractor radio. Offers hearing protection and a radio. I have used this model most recently and similar models for nearly 50 years. One radio that goes with you on the tractor, lawn mower, shop, or just about anywhere you are.
