Florida Solar panels questions

It's already the highest by far and I'm not saving thousands.
It is hard to pick out what is the highest if you look at more than just tax credits. Mineral extraction gets very favorable federal land lease prices, eminent domain seizure of private property for pipelines, etc, nuclear gets insured from the feds since no private insurance will take the risk, shipping petroleum on the ocean gets the protection of the US navy, ports and waterways are maintained and dredged by the army corp of engineers sometimes. There are a lot of handouts to a lot of industries that aren’t easy to calculate since it isn’t a direct tax credit.

I also don’t see further incentives lowering costs to consumers, I feel large corporations or utilities will just keep the extra cash and not “trickle it down”

Absolutely I agree, however the tax code is a true quantified measurable.

The world has always revolved around energy, no matter the era. Without it survival is compromised so it stands to reason the most valuable resources will be protected. That's where I'll leave that without getting into current events and politics.

Just because there's a bandwagon doesn't mean there's not subsidies. "Getting with the program like most other countries" is absolutely more government control- over 2 trillion USD worldwide from governments from 2020-2024. https://www.iea.org/reports/state-of-energy-policy-2024/key-findings
I did not post that there are not subsidies, did I? I posted that they iare not needed. The world sees the direction that we have to be going in. The dinosaurs got left behind before.

We have 30 panels for a total maximum wattage of 10kW. They are mounted on the steep portion of a gambrel roof on my shed/barn/workshop. Perfectly south facing. We are generally satisfied with that and our net metering here in Northern NY. The inverter failed after 4 years, but was replaced under warranty (except labor).

You said getting with the program like the world or something to that effect, and being beyond government control. Then you cite the rest of the world. There are countless worldwide reports/data/examples from the renewable side of how the government policies/regulations/subsidies/taxes are all required to keep the movement going. I chose subsidies an example. You can find other reports citing the same- plenty from worldwide sources.

The world doesn't see anything but the way it's being implemented in the US and elsewhere and their definition(s) of success. Again, without getting into politics, governments are heavily involved in the renewables. To say anything otherwise is pure ignorance or just a defense of a wrong.

I'd be happy to listen to your examples of 'getting with the program' that's working worldwide. I'm all for anything that makes sense without burdening an entire population for the sake of a few.

Even if all vehicles , marine and rail and industry was 100% electric . They would still be pumping oil for the plastics industry.

Yes! many gov'ts. are heavily involved in renewables. Twenty-five years ago driving through Turkey it was very noticeable that there were very few roofs without a solar water heater and storage tank. They appeared to all be the same. A

Yes, and that makes sense, even though that industry has work to do also.

It is my understanding that Europe, who started the renewable thing, are going back to nuclear.
The chart buickanddeere posted is startling.
Because of the advances in technology I wonder if the answer to our energy production has been invented yet. Fission appears to be promising.
I don't understand how we can mine coal and China can buy it and ship it and burn it and save money, and we don't see a problem with it. I believe we have the same atmosphere. Here in WNY and NW PA we are sitting on the cheapest energy. Coal and natural gas. WE ARE TOO STUPID TO USE IT thanks to the mislead environmentalists. In WNY my home heating oil is the same price as over the road diesel.

Short of saying nuclear is the way to go, it is the most promising right now. The micronuclear movement in the US is full steam ahead and thankfully it's not receiving the envirowhacko pushback like was fashionable in the 70s and 80s. The microreactor industry really is fascinating and cutting edge, and the applications are almost endless whether it's defense, space exploration, industry, or simple power generation. It's interesting to watch and I will be impressed if it ever makes it to independent household level in our lifetimes, because it's already at the remote/transportable level. I could also be interested because I'm directly invested... :D

So you agree with me after all?

Follow up Chief- what's the smallest sized reactor you've seen (if you have authorization to share of course)?
"Seen" isn't really a thing for us, we walk by the reactor compartment. But to answer your question probably the S6G on the LA class SSN. Plenty of unclassified info on them interwebs.

Now if we want to talk about GTGs then it would be the APU on an LCAC. Being a big dumb animal, I can pull one of those by myself with out a hoist.

"Seen" is figurative as applicable of course. And that compartment (30+ ft.) is still fairly small given its capabilities from an original design over 60 years ago? I don't even know the current fuel life. Nuclear is so impressive.

People don't have a problem with China continuing to burn coal because they are building so much more solar than anyone else.

Fission has fissiled . There is no way to pack the heat and pressure of the sun into something the size of a olympic sized pool on the face of plant earth. plus it would have to be fueled with deuterium or tritium . Ever priced that stuff out and the energy required to produce ?
