Being stranded and walking home...scooter in the trunk?

Dead battery = 9 mile walk home in the rain.
Dead starter, probably the real problem = 6 mile midnight walk home + police frisking.
Thinking of getting a cheap E-scooter that'll fit in the trunk? Anyone have scooter experience?

I think a new starter, battery and maybe a good jump box would be a better investment.

I'd forget to take the scooter. The starter went out on my truck a year ago and neither of us remembered to take the phone.

Many years ago had pick up truck to quit on me coming from a field. Maybe 2 good miles from home. Cell phones were not even heard off then. Think no problem, somebody will come by I know. Was maybe 100 feet from driveway when a neighbor came by. Stopped and asked if I needed help. Nope. I am home now. He was the first vehicle to come by.

Saw some folding E-scooters for $120 claiming 20mph 20 miles range. Sounds to good to be true.

No scooter experience but if it saves your life once I don't see any harm. I am all for it. Once upon a time I could walk 6 miles, now it would be hard work.

That is why my insurance has towing as part of it and that is 24/7

Today there are lots of transportation options that were never available when we were younger. Although now-a-days folding scooter might not weigh much more than a full size spare tire or take up much more space.

Nope. Oh well, the walks did me good. Figuring out how to replace a starter, if it was a starter, at a big box parking lot was exciting.
PS Including shipping Walmart is $21 cheaper for that scooter.

Nope. Oh well, the walks did me good. Figuring out how to replace a starter, if it was a starter, at a big box parking lot was exciting.

Was in town with couple friends when we were all early 20’s. In friend’s car. Went to leave movie theatre and starter locks. Friend says dang, that’s twice this week. No wrenches. I have plenty in my truck, about 1 mile away. Saturday night around 9:30 in January. Cold. We walked to where I had left my truck. Drove back. Jacked car up. Loosened starter and got it going. Ahh the good times!

Police Frisking? If you had a scooter, they would probably say you stole it. Did they even offer you a ride?

Rural, dark, couple minutes break after walking two hours, passing car calls ambulance, three sheriff cars, interrogation, frisk, gave me a ride for the last 2/3 of a mile.

I think about that when I'm up at our property alone, like I will be this weekend! One time I broke off a rear tire valve stem mowing a woods trail on the quarter section that's 5 miles from the cabin by road, but I walked cross-country back. I filled 2 air compressors, put them in the truck, drove out, aired up the tire, drove a wooden pug in the valve stem, and drove it back. Then I drove a 4-wheeler out and put it in the back of the truck and got everything back to the cabin. I think there was an ad for GM parts once, it said, buy good parts, or buy good shoes!

No scooter experience. I have a receiver hitch bike rack that’s easy to use either on the front or rear of my truck. And you can always take the bike and just pedal around for the fun of it.

That's probably what I'll end up doing.

The beauty of a stick shift is that if there is any kind of a grade you can start it without a starter or any help. On level ground a friend or two can give you a push start or if a car is there and you have a chain or tow rope you can pull start it.

food if you had something to eat ??? Oh... Land of Goshen !!! What did you do with your empty right hand all that time ??? It's horrific !!! I Just... well I just never ...... I bet you were really scared...

Most of the time mine is sitting on the bakers rack in the kitchen with half a charge. I remember it when wife tells me to take my phone when I leave.

There might be a lot of options in your area, but in mine, you would be walking the 9 miles. Not likely you could call anyone, because cell service is so poor. No uber, no taxis, no public transportation, no busses. No one will stop and help you unless you know them. Only one deputy sheriff on duty on the night shift, so he won't be coming along either. Where I live you need a good, dependable vehicle and always be packing a sidearm if you are out late.
