B414 hydraulic “tub” weight

Does anyone know the approximate weight of the hydraulic section under the seat of the b414? I have seen several videos and everyone seems to use a hoist of some sort to lift it off. AI answers to this question varied from 150 to 1200 pounds. I can use the rafters in the garage but would have to incorporate extra support if over 400 pounds.

I don't know but I think if you can distribute the load then you would be better off.

Something like this:
A temporary beam spanning several rafters with vertical posts directly to the concrete floor. Then the load travels mostly straight down through the posts rather than through the roof framing.

The basic idea being to get some of the load to be supported by the ground thru vertical beams.

Then just crank it up slowly and see how she creeks and looks.

That's what I'd try.

Like a big Amish lumber beam up under the rafters horizontally, supported by other big beams vertically wedged under it holding it up under the rafters close to the hoist as possible without interfering with it.

Bradley, that is exactly what I have done to pull boat engines and such in the shop before. Just a lot of goofing around if it is not needed. Guess I will know once I get it separated!

Better to goof around than to pull down the rafters or stress them.

Doesn't sound like too much work or expense.
