Ford 5000 strange fuel injection pump leak

There is a small elbow with a nut and i can tighten the begezzez out of the nut and it still leaks. My main question is: "What is this for?" And then how do i stop this leak? I'm guessing i'd try to find a new one but i don't know what it's called.

I think what you're pointing at is the vent tube.
If you've got fuel coming out, could be a sign of internal seals going bad.
When you drain/change the oil in the pump, is it just oil or is it diluted with diesel?

The picture doesn't have enough light to see the detail adequately and it is too close to tell for sure what pump it is, But from my experience with a Ford 9000 I will guess that it is as Fred meant to post that it is an overflow. It appears to be a Simms pump, and they have a cam box, which contains lubricating oil, which will gradually get diluted with fuel, and dribble out the overflow. I am guessing that a former owner tried to stop the overflowing with a "nut" instead of changing the oil as he should have. Try changing the oil. My 9000 was slightly warmed up and needed an oil change every half hour.

That's the cambox vent, it SHOULD remain OPEN, NOT PLUGGED. SLIGHT dripping is NORMAL, constant flow is NOT.

Change the oil every half an hour!? Well i did change it last year and it was very much oil and diesel mixed. Yes a Simms pump. It was dripping about every second, and then it slowed down. And the drip was straight diesel as it was pink.

A bad supply pump diaphragm will put fuel into the cambox, or worn plungers can do it too.
