Oliver 88 wide front end to go on 77

A guy has a wide front that he took off his 88 and is selling it for 350 bucks and it’s got new bearings and tie rods. Seems like a good deal to me as I’ve been looking for one for my 77. From what I’ve gathered, it should bolt right up for the most part, right? Is there any advantage or disadvantage to going with the wide front? Also, how hard is it to make the switch over? I understand it’s heavy work, but is it actually technical at all? Thank you.!

Direct bolt up. How much work dependes on what equipment you have. Block up the frame and drop out the narrow front, stand up the wide front under it and either jack it up or let the frame down. I don't know that there's a whole lot of advantage. Less compaction to the hay if you're using it to rake I suppose. It'll take up more space in the barn.

I guess it’s just because I have a farmall that it has a wide front and we mostly just use our tractors for joyriding these days and I’m much prefer the feel of the wide front for driving around

Make sure you get the 2 cast pcs that go over the ball on the wishbone, and bolt up to the underside of tractor.
