This reads 1151, meaning December 1951, yours prolly has a 2, im guessing, in front of 51.

The loom helps keep the fans air from blowing the longer wires on the hot manifold. Dont know why someone would intentionally ditch it.
Maybe others have made their own designs...

Good point. I think I'll see how the new wires lay and if I want to accomplish that some other way or with that thing.

Marvel Mystery Oil and ATF are not functionally equivalent for a piston soak. I chose Marvel Mystery Oil because it is a light petroleum-based product intended for engine-related use and is better suited to penetrating and loosening varnish and carbon around stuck piston rings. ATF is engineered primarily as a hydraulic lubricant for automatic transmissions, with friction modifiers and other additives designed for transmission clutches, valves, gears, and seals—not for dissolving combustion deposits around piston rings. Although ATF has detergent and dispersant properties and has historically been used in homemade engine treatments, that doesn’t mean it is a stronger or more aggressive piston cleaner; its chemistry is simply designed for a different job. For soaking carbon-bound or stuck piston rings, Marvel Mystery Oil is the more appropriate choice of the two.

This why you add Acetone to ATF, that turns it into more of a solvent mix. I would classify MMO as more of a solvent than anything else. I don't think ATF alone would have been as effective on surface rust as MMO so MMO was a good call.

The average DIY is not gonna pay for the good stuff to dissolve carbon right now he will keep fudgen around with across the counter chemicals till he get's it done. IMHO
