hello all--did;'nt know where to post this, so here goes, as i know a lot of you have golf carts with 48v system. i recently came up with a genie manlift, it had no batteries. just to try it out, i installed 4 known good 12v g31 truck batteries. all functions came alive & work great except travel motors. so. am i just short on battery power? before i buy 8 proper 6v batteries, should the truck batterys wired for 48v at least make it move? it does for a few feet & stops. [this it at full voltage on joystick} thanks

both mine are gas, but we have them here at work and your best bet is to call one of the places that rent them out and see if you can ask the question. myself thinks you may have another problem but by no way am i a expert. with all the safety's that are built into them it can make you want to pull your hair out and at my age don't have a lot to give anymore. good luck. the right batterie for one of those unit are not cheap.

thank you for your reply. yes i will see if i can find some test specs for those motors. they are 24v, but i don't know if it changes from a lower voltage for slower speeds? about the same set-up as a golf cart i would think. yes, before i buy the right batteries, i need to make sure the drive system ok. i think the hot 12v batteries i have in it should make it pull-/travel, except not last very long. thank you

My 48 volt truck runs on 8 6 volt batteries. For emergencies when I first got it, I added a second bank of 4 12 volt RV deep cycle batteries. It would run all day on the second bank. When they went dead after 12 years, I removed them because I never really needed them. If the lift is 48 volt, it absolutely should move on 4 group 31s hooked in series.
