IH 606 gas - camshaft not turning - timing gears?

Hey guys picked up a 606 gasser, no spark, distributer shaft not turning.

Pulled oil pan — sadly looks like the camshaft isn’t turning :(

I’m guessing a timing gear? How much of a pain am I getting myself into?

Also - would there be a reason the timing gear failed in the first place - like something binding? Seems to be turning free although oil pump seems a little tight?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welp on a 606 , son your in for a lot of work . The whole ft of the tractor must come off . to get to the timing cover . no short cuts . OFF then ya get the crank damper off drop the pan remove the fan blade to get it out of the way and remover the timing cover . Don't worry about the engine faling off as the bolts in the rear will hold it . Personally never had and issue with the C 221 -301 .

I don’t look at being a pain . Yeah ! it’s hard work the first time. But if you ,Get the shop manual for the 606 and tear it down , follow the manual and you will have a nice tractor when you’re finished.
Ask questions hear about the findings you,ll be our 606 expert in the future.
Forgot to mention this give YT hear a chance on the replacement parts to quote supply .

I had one person who had a 606 i worked on , that a 504 international were the only two utility's . I had little issues with them both Fix a leak tune ups valve adjustments fix a light fluid changes fix the exhaust manifold on the 606 . They 2were more a toy tractor , run brush hogs . three piont work log spliters snow removal . .

Thanks guys!!

Yea I’m looking to fix it. I don’t have a shop big enough to take it in - so it’s going to have to be a backyard project - I’m going to try to do it over 2 days so I don’t risk it getting wet/exposed to the elements.

Planning to take as much of the stuff off as O can except for the timing cover then going at it.

Taking it apart will be easy - but I’ll need advice putting it back together!

Thanks 😊
