Old Rhino shredder - removing the PTO shaft

I have an old Rhino shredder and I am trying to remove the PTO shaft at the end with the slip clutch.

I removed the two bolts that are holding the gearbox shaft, the shaft end moves about 2 mm but then it stops. Shall I use the hammer to force it out or there is still something else that holds it in place? I do not want to possibly ruining the bearing inside the gearbox.

Could there be a snap ring on the end of the shaft inside the clutch assembly?

It does not have a snap ring. One needs to use an extractor to remove it.

Looks to me that you would need to put some kind of wedge in the slot in the hub where you took the bolts out, nothing too aggressive, a flat screw driver, small chisel,etc. which should open the bore on the splines slightly allowing the hub to come off. might need a gear puller to help it along. I would probably put the wedges (one each side) on the end towards the gear box, angled sort of in line with the nose of gear box in your picture so that any tapping to insert them would be already moving hub off the shaft. The bolts were there to squeeze it down enough to hold on the shaft, unless there is a depression in the shaft itself the bolts grip into. In the picture they look outboard of the shaft to me.
