8N Fender Light Bracket - Which fender to use?

Hello, One poster to my earlier question on mounting the bracket, I think showed his bracket on the right (looking forward) fender. All other videos I've seen shown it on the left side. When on the left side, it routes by the brake rod, then behind the seat to the right side and through the clips and housing hole (see my first picture) then up to the dash and back over to the left side to the light switch.

The left side of the dash was my only place to add my light switch. I'm thinking/wanting to put the worklight & red light combo, on my right fender in which I would eliminate that routing from back left to back right . Everything stays on the right side up to the dash area.

Is there any strong reason for not putting it on the right side? thanks

Single taillights were normally found on the left side; the side you pass a vehicle on. And the lighting kit in the online parts book for the 8N shows the kit on the left fender.

Thank you for this. Makes good sense and reason to go left. I did look in the parts book before but now studying it a bit more, it is on the left. Seems like that transmission housing hole should have been on the left side too.

If I recall correctly, light switch is on the right side of dash. Wires ran from switch, along right side of trans case, and then across under the seat to lh side. Thus, hole in trans flange is on the correct side.

Why does it matter what side it goes on? Do what looks good to you. If I'm being honest there isn't really a right or wrong answer as to which side the tail light goes on heck you can put one on both if you really wanted to and mount the light somewheres else.
