It's the wife's truck and she was ------. I feel asleep.

The same day.

She started right up and drove her to the field.

I had just had the gas tank repaired the past winter and I was going to be ------ if I had punctured it. Really lucked out on that. We bought it for less than you can buy a good used running gear. Runs and drives good.

Bought it 6 years ago.

That is a nice looking fleet. Consider putting a canopy on them to protect you from the sun. Three benefits....rops, skin cancer and finally a little comfort from sitting in the shade.

That kind of an expense is the furthest thing from my mind and rops get in the way of everything. I pull them off. The 2 - 23's have the upper half removed. The lower half work great for hanging things on and they have to be able to go down stairs of the barn. Of the tractors in the picture the only one I might consider canopy would be the 2950 that already has the rops. The 4040 wouldn't consider messing with originality due to its possible uniqueness. Although I am considering putting a 2wd front end on it due to it not working and the possibility of it locking up but would keep the HFWD intact. Still to this day I've keep trying to find another one built exactly like it. There are other 4040's but are late models with different sheet metal. This one is first year(#299) styled like the '30 series open stations.

I got a nice bid on my hay from the pasture this week. It’s real dry west of here, folk are trucking hay several 100 miles and more. Feel bad for them, but they bid to get the load full.

We are going back into the high heat and humidity again starting today. Nothing will dry. It’s summer.

Getting passed on the right when trying to make a right turn.

Twice this year at the same customer driveway, first time with tractor and mower and yesterday with truck and turn signals. Turn off main road onto secondary road, less than 200 yards, unless somebody coming drive in the middle, pull left to make the swing and next thing I know a car beside me. Just once I want to take one of them out. The stupidity is getting worse. No patience. I think this year there have been more middle fingers than all years passed. Nobody understands any more.

It is not the other driver's responsibility to magically understand what you are trying to do beyond contine driving straight down the road.

Signal far ahead of any turn and tap the brake lights a few times before hard braking to signal your intentions to other drivers. Make sure turn signals and brake lights are visible in strong sunlight, not just visible if someone is watching closely, those are not the people you need to worry about, but firetruck-ambulance level visible that grabs attention from everyone including those who are not expecting any turns from you or are watching something else entirely.

Yeah, that sounds expensive and unneccesary, but two near misses is probably not the last. Upgrading lights and defensive driving are cheap if they prevent a high speed crash.

Explain why your driving in the middle of the road for 200 yards
If the mower to to wide for one lane holding over to the left is necessary but not in a truck
Swinging completely into the left lane to make a right turn has always been risky, I experienced this many times in my years of driving 18 wheelers. Turn signals are near worthless today as people either don’t use them or leave them blinking for miles as they drive down the road, I filled a car for or a mile with their right turn signal flashing before conditions allowed me the opportunity to pass, just as I started to pull out to pass they braked and made a left turn, with the right signal still flashing.
Extended signal distance is a invitation for that signal to be ignored, I generally turn on the signal a few moments before I start braking for the turn, if they don’t pay attention to that they were never going to. Minimize the the amount of time your making that left swing, ideally just as the mower/trailer/ long wheel base trucks rear end leaves the right lane the front of the tractor/truck should be reentering the right lane. Even then some impatient driver is likely to make a dash to get by, always look for that driver.
If the costumers drive way is that narrow talk to them about widening it if possible, a couple extra ft wider at the entrance can make a big difference on how much swing is needed

How does "high speed crash" and tractor pulling mower relate? He said his truck has working turn signals. A few years ago I was setting up to turn into my driveway, driving our motorhome towing my Chevy Silverado, both has working turn signals. I make a curve so the pickup doesn't leave the center of the county road. I had the front of the MH nearly turned into my driveway, double-checked my mirrors and a car was trying to pass on the right, which is illegal on all 2-lane roads.
