If you are going to replace the chain,just use bolt cutters on it.Usually takes 4 snips,but in your case it will only need two.

Hello tinner12, welcome to YT! It is called “detachable” chain. Yes the tool NDIHC shows does make it easier to work with it, but is not 100 percent necessary. Here is a link to a YouTube video of someone taking the chain apart using an adjustable wrench in a vise. Probably won’t work in your case but gives you an idea anyway. The main thing to remember in my opinion is when you get the flat part of the link lined up to drive through the slot you’ll need some kind of counter weight or sudo anvil if you will to make the hammer strikes effective. This could be a 2 pound hammer, sledged hammer or other heavy piece of steel.

Just loosen up front tightener which you need to install new. If chain is worn it will gome apart easily .

Once you get that far.... a come-a-long will make your job a lot easier, when you have to join the ends of the new apron.

And be patient! New flat chain can be a bear to get together.

You have it easy. Whenever my apron chain needed fixing it was because it broke with 3/4 of a load of manure in it. Grab the pitchfork and start pitching out what you just pitched in.
