1952 R FUEL FILTER CANISTERS LEAKING

Put new rubber jd rings in casting and now i can;t stop it from leaking, what do i have to do to stop this ?

Take out the the new gasket and use a pick to dig for an old one still in the groove. I expect you will find another one in it.

nope, already made sure there was no old gasket up in the grove, just the new one. Only thing i can think of is the new jd correct rings are not made made the same as the old style ones.

part no jd dealer gave me is R1021R, their a square ring to fit in the grove,

R1021R shows as 3/32" thick for serial number R3482 and after.

R474R is 1/8" thick for serial number R3481 and prior.

What is your serial number, it could make a difference.

ser no is 14756, that's must be the problem, they gave me the 3/32 rings , i need the i/8. My fault i stopped in a told them 52 r and he got the 2 wrong ones, never asked about ser no, i should have looked it up first myself. Rings did look a little thin width wise.

I would not say he got the two wrong ones, 14756 is after 3438 so the R1021R should be the right ones. It won't hurt other than the cost to try the R474R ones and see if it solves the problem.
